Privacy Policy

Last updated 19 September 2026

NeuroCare is a mobile app that helps neurodivergent people and those who care for them find resources, community support, and healthcare providers. This policy describes what information the app collects, how it is used, and what is not collected.

Summary. NeuroCare does not use advertising networks, analytics trackers, or data brokers. The sections below list each type of information the app collects and the specific feature that uses it.

What we collect

Each item below is collected only when you use the feature it belongs to.

Account information

Email & password
Handled by Firebase Authentication (Google's identity service) when you register or sign in. NeuroCare does not store your password.
Username
Set at registration. Shown to other users on posts, replies, and in Find Nearby results.

Profile information (optional)

Country / region / city
Typed into your profile by hand. Used to show you other members in your area.
Bio & social link
Shown to other signed-in users.

Screening / assessment responses

Your answers
Responses to the screening questionnaire, who the screening is for, and the resulting flags. Your result is shown when you finish the questionnaire; the app does not currently have a screen for looking back at earlier results. The record is kept on our side, is not visible to other users, and is deleted with your account.

Community content

Posts, replies, stories
Visible to other signed-in users.
Reports
When you report a post, reply or story, we store the reason you chose, any details you add, a copy of the reported content, your account ID, and the ID and username of the member who wrote it, so our team can review it. The person you reported is never told who reported them.
Blocked members
The list of members you have blocked, used to hide their content and profile from you. Only you can see it, and it is deleted with your account.

Abuse-prevention data

Password-reset attempts
To limit automated password-reset attempts, the backend stores a SHA-256 hash of your email and IP address for 15 minutes, then deletes it. The raw values are not stored.

What we don't collect

NeuroCare does not include any of the following:

How we use it

This information is used to operate the features listed above: authentication, showing your profile, scoring your screening answers, the Find Nearby feature, community posts, reviewing reported content, hiding blocked members, and rate limits on posts and password-reset attempts.

Who we share it with

Google Cloud and Firebase host the app's database and authentication service. They do not receive your data for any purpose beyond running the app.

The Send Feedback button opens your device's email app with a message addressed to us. That message is sent from your device directly to our email address and does not pass through NeuroCare's servers.

Storage & security

Data is stored in Google Cloud Firestore. Firestore's security rules block all direct access from the app. Every read and write goes through the backend API, which requires a signed-in session.

Children & families

A parent or caregiver can complete a screening on behalf of a child. The app is intended for use by the adult managing that care. It does not knowingly permit children to create accounts.

Your choices

You can update your profile at any time from the app's Profile screen. From the same screen you can also permanently delete your account, which removes your profile and every screening/assessment response immediately.

Posts and stories you've shared with the community stay online after deletion — removing them would leave gaps in other members' conversations — but they're no longer shown under your name: we relabel them as posted by “Deleted user.” Replies you've left on other people's posts and stories keep your username attached; email us and we will remove it.

For anything not covered by the in-app option — including removing your name from existing replies, or requesting a copy of your data — contact us using the details below.

Changes to this policy

If what we collect or how we use it changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Please check back from time to time.
